Melissa Magsaysay’s Take on L.A. Style
As a former market editor at the Los Angeles Times and WWD, Melissa Magsaysay knows a thing or two about fashion. But the question of how to define Los Angeles style is one that continues to confound amateurs and professionals alike. Magsaysay’s sartorial observations about her hometown have come together in “City of Style” (It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers) which she says, “is not a serious coffee-table book.” The photo-filled tome is instead her take on West Coast style, and the book mirrors the natives in that “we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t stories to tell.” The author and West Coast ambassador will make a New York appearance for the book at the Juicy Couture boutique on Madison Avenue on Wednesday.
